Finally – Spring 2010 is here!

It is officially spring and it couldn’t have been a nicer day. Frankly, I’m a little disappointed winter is gone. I usually take a lot of ribbing for putting my bike up for two or three months. This year I was prepared to ride all winter. The dang snow made it impossible to ride all of February. I invested in heated gloves for both me and Diana. Diana’s cost me an arm and a leg and she only got to wear them two times. Our new sponsor Riders Discount sent me a Tour Master Synergy heated jacket liner. I only got to wear it two or three times. Not enough for a good write up; it will have to wait til Fall.

You can probably tell from the name of this blog that I am heavily involved with group riding. Riding with my HOG Chapter offers unparalleled camaraderie. Riding with First State HOG opened my eyes to what riding is all about. However I have recently made serious changes to my diet and given up caffeine so even though we had two chapter rides today, I went on neither. I wanted to go riding on my schedule. Unfortunately my schedule is in slow motion compared to everyone else (fortunately my wife is on the same schedule). I think getting out of bed at 8:00 or 9:00am on a Saturday is getting up early. I like 10:00 or 11:00am much better. My eyes opened at 8:00 am and I just laid in bed for an extra hour. Too awake to sleep but not awake enough to get out of bed. I woke Diana at 9:00am and then I took a shower. Diana prepared breakfast and we ate. Got the bikes out, geared up and hit the gas station for a fill up. We were on the road by 11:00am.  Most of our friends left before we even got out of bed! I’m glad they had a great time. I thought of them often througout the day.

I have got to be the luckiest guy in the world! Diana can take me on some great rides through Maryland which she knows very well. We took a two hour jaunt to Reisterstown to check on the townhouse we have up for sale. My wife took me on some really great roads through horse farm country with great twists, turns and single lane bridges that crossed babling brooks. Then we visted with Diana’s son, nephew and sister. The sun was shining and it was a fantastic ride. The ride back was even better.

Well, even though I’m a tad disappointed about not getting enough cold riding in… I’m still glad it’s spring!

As a goodbye to winter here is a video I made with my new FlipVideo HD that I fondly call: The Chilly Willy Interviews.
