Italian motorcycle company Ducati appears to take some business ques from Harley-Davidson in developing a profitable apparel business. Ducati put on a flashy fashion show at the New York City International Motorcycle Show for media reporters. The long legged leather clad models looked great and the show was pump’n with jams and video and it was really cool! I wish you were there. I wish I caught it on video; but you’ll have to live with this picture montage from One True Media with a cheesy soundtrack.
Harley-Davidson unveiled a new model Sportster at 11:00am this morning at the New York City International Motorcycle Show! The newest Sportster is a 1200 and will be called the 48 in recognition of the iconic peanut tank first introduced in 1948. The styling takes the Nightster look to the next level of raw blacked out stripped down custom. The peanut tank is displayed prominently. A very thin un-Harley like solo seat about two inches thick sits between the tank and the fender (26″ seat height). The rear fender is very clean. On the front end there is a fat front wheel which is way cool, sort of like a Fat Bob treatment for the Sporty. It has forward controls. The rear view mirrors have been repositioned on this model UNDER the handlebars so that you can see more than just your shoulders! MSRP for vivid black is $10,499. Here is a video of the unveiling taken on my new HD Flip:
I added a few new addtions to my motorcycle blog roll. These blogs are a little edgy featuring an in your face FU I just wanna ride attitude. I like the tude!
This simple cable allows you to plug in coaxial heated motorcycle riding gear to your battery tender pigtail. If you buy heated gear, such as a pair of gloves, it will come with a fused battery harness similar to a battery tender quick connect (it just has a different plug on the end). If you’re like me, you don’t want more than one harness on your battery. It will start to look like a birds nest if you keep adding connectors! That’s where this handy little SAE-2 to coaxial adapter comes in handy. It is available at www.Shop.RoadCaptainUSA.com for $9.95 plus S&H.
You may want to run both heated gloves and a GPS unit off your battery tender pigtail and you can’t make up your mind which one is more important. I have the solution! Run both using this SAE-2 Splitter Extension in conjunction with the Heated Garmet Adapter and the 12 Volt Power Port! The Splitter Extension is available for $12.95 plus shipping and handling at www.Shop.RoadCaptainUSA.com
What do you do if you don’t have heated gear and want to get toasty? Get yourself some heated gear at your local Harley-Davidson dealer or from a reputable online supplier such as Riders Discount.
