Christmas Day Ride 2008

Princess on Christmas Day

It was 41 degrees at 11:00 am, with gusty winds chilling to 33 degrees.  The sun was shining brightly, which was especially nice since I don’t believe I’ve seen sunshine in over a month!  First State HOG chapter showed up in admirable numbers for the 2008 Christmas Day Ride.

2008 FSH Christmas Day Riders

There were 14 Harleys ridden by men brave enough to bear the frigid temperatures and one new Super Glide ridden by The Princess (me).  Many bikes were decked out in reindeer antlers, Santa hats, and shiny new Christmas chrome.  We paraded around town in staggered formation for just about a half hour.  I am certain that everyone we passed thought we were nuts!

We caught Santa

It was good to see old friends and to meet a few new ones.  Although our New Year’s Day ride is still a week away it felt like a fresh start to a new year in a chapter under new leadership.  We received a holiday card from dear friends in our HOG chapter that said “sometimes friends feel more like family than your actual family” and that is certainly how I feel about my friends at First State HOG.

HD Antlers!

Happy Holidays everyone and thank you for visiting our humble motorcycle blog!

  1. Looks like it was a great ride! Merry Christmas and Happy Festivus!!! 🙂

  2. Where is the snow bro! Very cool and glad you squeezed in a good ride on Christmas…I did too. 😉

  3. Ms. RC: Just a touch of jealousies here. It is 49f here right now and if my drive wasn’t iced over I could very well been out on my bike today, snow in the ditches and all! I just might be able to get the bike out after work tonight, just depends on the temp. Our local HD dealer is having their Zero ride January 10th. They ride a mile for every degree above zero the temp is, and then have a chilly feed afterwards.

  4. Sounds like a great day! I’m glad you got out to play.

  5. It was a truly wonderful day…chilly as it was, it was a nice break in the weather. We’ve had highs in the 20’s and lots of rain, sleet, and freezing rain. It is still clear today, but not sunny, and the temps are back down into the 30’s. I am convinced it doesn’t know how to actually snow in Delaware. If it would just be snow instead of ice, I wouldn’t mind it being so darn cold (as much).

  6. Great Blog. Sounds like a great Ride
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  7. What a fun way to celebrate Christmas day! Glad you had a nice ride. We had (nonriding) family obligations on Christmas day, but it was nice just the same. We plan to take off for a nice ride today (Saturday) just to chill out from all the holiday stresses!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  8. With the stresses that hit me and my family over Christmas, I sure would have LOVED a ride to clear my head. Of course with the weather here that’s just not to be.

The next best thing is finally having some time to catch up on a litle blogging. It’s the next-best thing to being there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both!

  9. Hope you had a great time riding in the cold. Frankly, I wish I had the time to do bike trips but now that you brought it up, I’m glad I live in SoCal. No cold for me. The most I’ve done is ride to Sac in the summer. Although most of my buddies up there are more into their crotch rockets.

  10. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, rub it in Christmas Day ride…. Bah Humbug! What about a White Christmas!?!

Just kidding! Hope you had a great ride. Hope you two had a merry Christmas as well! Cheers, and Happy new year!

  11. Delaware doesn’t believe in snow…we just get sleet, freezing rain, overcast skies, and (my favorite) the “wintery mix”!
