I Am Officially a HOG Road Captain

HOG RC Patch

I was patched as an official HOG Road Captain for the First State HOG chapter earlier this evening. I am very proud of this accomplishment and thank everyone who supported me including our Road Captains, Road Captain Prospects, and members who participate in my rides.

When I dubbed this website www.RoadCaptainUSA.com I never meant to imply I was a Road Captain. I started going by the online handle Road Captain on other blogs and biker forums only as a way to create visibility for my site. I clearly stated on my About Page that I was the FSH Activities Officer. Some of you may have been disappointed to find out I was not officially a real Road Captain. I considered myself a Road Captain of the Internet; through my blog posts I can guide you and give you useful information that will make your biking experience better.

The more I immersed myself in writing my posts and group riding with our club the position of Road Captain began to interest me more and more. There is sort of an art form to being a Road Captain. It’s like zen biker martial arts with elements of karma, style, intuition, wisdom and the ability to execute the moves correctly. I also liken the RC patch to the black belt. Like Mr Miagi pointed out to young Danielson, it’s your skill and accomplsihments that make you a black belt… not the belt itself.

Now that I have earned the patch, I am glad to finally be legitimate! Thank you all for bearing with me and now that I am legit I hope you continue to read my blog and participate in my rides.

  1. Congratulations way to go!!
It is indeed a honor to win the respect of your peers.
Road captian or not…I always had one name for you anyway……………….FRIEND.

  2. Ditto on the congrats. I know you worked hard for that, and you can be proud! Enjoy!

  3. I am extra super proud of my baby. He could have met his requirements by planning 30-minute ice cream rides, but instead he planned 3- and 5-day trips to Mansfield PA, Skyline Dr, and West Virginia!!! A truly well-deserved honor for the sexiest man in the world! 😉

  4. Congrats!, Now you have to get a vest to put it on!

Tan with fringes would be nice! LOL!

  5. Congratulations! Way to go! Woo-hoo!

Seriously, that is awesome. You RC’s have a lot of responsibility. And a ride without an RC can be catastrophic, as we have seen. Nice job!

  6. Congrats! It’s a great feeling huh?

  7. Welcome to the club; you’ve earned it. Although I was voted in as RC way back in the spring, I didn’t become “official” until just a few weeks ago when I aced the E.R.C. Congrats on behalf on myself and your bros/sisters in BVH.

Mr. M. has a good point though – now you have to get a vest to put that rocker on! I’ve got a used one I can get you a deal on! You buy a vest – I’ll find you a Yuengling patch to sew on it.

  8. I agree with Big D, respect of the peers is what the title of Road Captain really says. I know you have been working it for awhile and glad to see that you have bitch slapped another goal that you have set for yourself. Congrats brother!

  9. Looks all aghast, you mean you were not a Road Captain???? I followed your sorry ass on all those trips and you were a wannabe????

OMG who do I complain to, what head Hog do I write to voice my most grevious betrayal, to think all this time I thought you were bonafide RC, I am just so devestated!!!!!!!!

Ok well what the hell I would follow you even if you were not a RC, as long as Diana is with you, she is better scenery to look at then your sorry ass (laugh)
congrats Brother, well deserved, and I look forward to all the ideas that come out of that devious mind of yours, they only add to our rides and the time spent on the road, enjoying our Bikes, our friends, potential friends and great journeys with great destinations.

ride safe, ride often, and let those who ride decide!!

  10. By now there’s enough comments that my “congratulations” will sound like an echo. I personally don’t like leading rides. Somebody with good sense and abilities needs to, though. It feels great to reach out for a goal and achieve it, doesn’t it? I’m celebrating with you because I know the effort you put into the journey!

  11. Congratulations!!!!!

It ain’t just a patch. It’s a privilege and a responsibility that I know you will take on with professionalism and respect.

    Way to go!!!!

  12. Thank you all! Your comments and support are very special. This is like getting props from the cream of the crops.

  13. Congratulations! After reading many of your posts, I can tell how much thought and care you put into each ride, and I have no doubt that you will be a terrific Road Captain! Way to go!

  14. Congrats! You should be given the highest props for willingly taking on that responsibility. Rides without Road Captains can be disasterous! Thanks for your service.
